Matter is an architecture and curatorial practice based in Goa, India. Working at the interface of architecture and content, the consistently experiments with new ways engaging with the built environment, and responds to the immense potential of India’s diverse, plural landscape. Its work spans design projects, research, and curatorial initiatives across multiple contexts and scales.

Deeply invested in the culture of contemporary architecture and design in India, Matter creates platforms for mature professional discourse through self-initiated and commissioned projects. The studio publishes books and journals, curates exhibitions, seminars, and conclaves, and documents contemporary work through digital and rich-media channels. Its content initiatives – including thinkmatter.in, Frame Conclave, The Merit List (TML), and [IN]SIDE, a bi-annual journal – are established to contribute to the evolving discourse.
